Celebrating Our 2025 Remarkable Volunteer Award Honorees

Each year, Girls on the Run International honors individuals whose passion, commitment, and service go above and beyond in support of the Girls on the Run mission. This year, we are thrilled to celebrate two exceptional changemakers who were selected as 2025 Remarkable Volunteer Awards recipients: Chris Holland and Shauna Moller.

Chris Holland: Corporate Champion & Consistent Advocate

Chris Holland’s journey with Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia (GOTR NOVA) began in 2015 through his role in community relations at Wegmans. What started as a partnership quickly became a personal mission. In 2018, Chris joined the GOTR NOVA Board of Directors, deepening his commitment and expanding his impact.

Chris has been a familiar face at not only our fundraising events, but also our 5K celebrations, often showing up with a team of 20 enthusiastic Wegmans volunteers in tow. He doesn’t just give his time, but he brings resources. Under Chris’s leadership, the Wegmans partnership has grown from a modest $3,500 sponsorship to a robust annual contribution of $26,000 in cash and $12,000 in in-kind donations. Since 2018, Wegmans has committed a total of $192,000 in cash and $110,000 in goods and services.

Chris continually finds creative ways to support our work, whether donating Cherry Blossom 10-Miler bibs to boost SoleMates fundraising or ensuring teams facing food insecurity receive snacks through gift card donations. He’s also helped secure coach training space and CPR training manikins, and even arranged for packet pickups at local Wegmans stores.

Chris is a connector, a problem-solver, and an unwavering supporter. He exemplifies what it means to be a Remarkable Volunteer.

Shauna Moller: Community Builder & Compassionate Leader

Shauna Moller first connected with GOTR NOVA as a college student at George Mason University. Through her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, she began coaching at Waples Mill Elementary School in 2017 and stayed on for four seasons. After graduating, she brought her passion for mentorship into her career in law enforcement.

Now a Community Resource Officer with the Manassas City Police Department, Shauna specializes in mental health and domestic violence support. In 2024, she was honored with the U.S. Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service in Community Policing, a testament to her dedication to building safer, more supportive communities.

In 2023, Shauna launched a GOTR team in the underserved Georgetown South neighborhood. She rallied fellow officers to join her as volunteer coaches and secured funding to ensure all participants could access the program. Since then, over 20 girls have participated, 4 team helpers have been mentored, and 5 officers have served as coaches under her leadership.

Shauna continues to coach and guide her team, working tirelessly to provide snacks, mentorship, and care to every girl. She is now exploring ways to replicate this community-policing partnership model in other neighborhoods, which is a powerful example of what happens when community service meets compassion.

We are so grateful for Chris and Shauna. These two remind us that change begins with one person stepping up to make a difference. Their leadership, heart, and unwavering support make our work possible, and their impact will be felt for years to come.

Congratulations to our 2025 Remarkable Volunteer Award honorees!
