Empowering Girls Through Every Stride in 2023

As we bid farewell to another incredible year, Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia is thrilled to share the highlights, triumphs, and transformative moments that made 2023 truly special. Our commitment to inspiring and empowering young girls remained unwavering, and the past 12 months have been a testament to the incredible impact we can achieve together.

Compare our 2023 stats to our 2022 stats in our 2022 In Review blog post.

While 2023 had some firsts, like our first-ever mini golf fundraiser in October, which you can read more about in our A Hole-in-One Day of Fun blog post, we unknowingly had our last LUNAFEST. 200+ community members joined us for a final sold-out celebration on International Women’s Day on March 8, 2023.

This traveling film festival amplified the diverse, inspiring work of women and gender nonconforming filmmakers and served as a longstanding fundraiser for GOTR NOVA. Looking ahead to March 2024, you can join us for our first-ever Trivia Night! Additional details will be available on our website early in the new year.

Girls on the Run team

These fun events not only bring our community together but also help raise critical funds for program scholarships. Last year, 44% of Girls on the Run participants in the NOVA community received financial assistance and that number continues to grow. YOU can help ensure our program continues to be accessible to every girl in Northern Virginia by attending our events or making a donation. Help us reach our $5,000 goal before 2023 is over!

Snack 2023

Our snack program soared to new heights as we made new connections with local food banks and were able to provide snacks to a record number of participants. Read more about this in our 2023 Annual Report.

As we reflect on the empowering journey of 2023, Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia extends heartfelt gratitude to our participants and their families, volunteers, and supporters. Together, we look forward to continuing our mission of building a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential.
